This week we have been learning about ‘The Three Little Pigs’.  On Tuesday it was ‘Discovery and Exploration Day’ across school so we decided to link the two themes!

We investigated whether straw, sticks or bricks would the best material to build a strong house that the wolf could not blow down.  We predicted that bricks would be the strongest.  We then used a hairdryer (in place of the wolf) to see if we could blow the houses down.  Our prediction was correct!

Later on we investigated which material would be the best to build a roof.  We wanted it to be waterproof to keep the pigs dry.  We learnt about having a ‘control’ and using a ‘fair test’.  We put different materials over the top of a plastic cup and then poured water onto it to see if the water came through.

We can now all build a strong house with a waterproof roof for The Three Little Pigs!

**We are also growing beans which we planted when we were learning about Jack and the Beanstalk.  We have included some photographs to show how well they are growing!
