We have had fun learning all about forces. Recently we focused and experimented with gravity and air resistance. In groups the children designed and created their own parachutes, investigating how the different materials, fixings and the size of the parachute affected the speed of which the parachute fell to the ground. The children gathered materials from home and also chose from a range of resources from school, such as: different sizes of plastic bags, tissue paper, tape, string, Lego and even toy cars! Once the parachutes were tested, the children evaluated these and made suggestions for further improvements.
